My Walla Walla Valley

The Walla Walla Valley through your eyes

I am so depressed! I went on a shopping trip in Portland last weekend, so I totally missed the Balloon Stampede. This is the first one since my 27 yrs of living here, that I wasn't around!
What did I miss, guys???

I went to the balloon launch at Garrison on Saturday with the 2-year-old and the 13-year-old. Luckily the winds died down enough to allow the launch (only a couple of balloons launched on Friday because of the winds.) There was a good turnout and Diego enjoyed himself though he wasn't blown away like I though he might be. Or maybe he was just overwhelmed. The teen liked it though I think she was underwhelmed. I posted a bunch of photos on my personal Flickr account.

Was this Itzul's FIRST Stampede?
I was mad I didn't get to see my three year old's reaction to the balloons. He freaks out when we drive by the balloons tied up outside the car dealerships! :P
I'll go check out your flickr photos. Thanks! :)

It was Itzul's first stampede. She dug it I think. You can never tell with teens. It was her idea to come along AND she woke up early for it, so....

You missed the fantastic DEEP FRIED CINNAMON ROLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There didn't seem to be as many vendors as last year so that makes it kinda blah. . . but there was a booth for the SAUCY SISTERS and they were selling Russian hot mustard and also a cranberry sauce that was soooooooooooooo good! I bought a jar of each. They were going to get Merchants to carry it since they are from Pocatello, Idaho.

A friend called me and told me I should check out the sheep at Last Chance Road, west of Walla Walla. She said there was one black sheep amongst the white. Turns out there were a couple of black sheep but the were pretty far away from the fence where I was. I had to wait until there were some heads aimed sort of towards me instead of all bottoms before I started clicking away.

There's something about grazing sheep that is timeless. And they could be in any country around the world. Universal would be the word.

Early in December I drove over to Kennewick. On the way back I noticed a field in which the irrigation water had been left on. The ice created some pretty cool sculptures.

Merry Christmas to all of you, and may you all have a joyous New Year!!
