My Walla Walla Valley

The Walla Walla Valley through your eyes

Well it seems everyone is on a budget these days. If you were thinking about not giving that bottle of wine to the host of your Thanksgiving Day dinner, think again. I’ve compiled a list of wines Walla Walla Wine Cellar offers that are excellent and under $20. Seriously, you can’t go wrong here and you won’t look like a schmuck when you arrive at your Turkey Day dinner.

Depending on the type of entrée to be served, usually a white wine or rosé goes best with turkey or a lighter flavored meal:

Boomtown Chardonnay
Charles Smith Holy Cow Chardonnay
DaMa Riesling
JLC The Muse Rosé
Trio Vintners Trés Rosé

If you are having a beef entrée or heavier flavored meal try any of these:

Boomtown Merlot
Boomtown Syrah
Charles Smith Holy Cow Merlot
Helix Pomatia
Mannina Cellars Cali

Or, if you are not sure what is going to being served, just buy your favorite. The host will be delighted that you are sharing “your” favorite with them. Cheers!

A friend called me and told me I should check out the sheep at Last Chance Road, west of Walla Walla. She said there was one black sheep amongst the white. Turns out there were a couple of black sheep but the were pretty far away from the fence where I was. I had to wait until there were some heads aimed sort of towards me instead of all bottoms before I started clicking away.

There's something about grazing sheep that is timeless. And they could be in any country around the world. Universal would be the word.

Early in December I drove over to Kennewick. On the way back I noticed a field in which the irrigation water had been left on. The ice created some pretty cool sculptures.

Merry Christmas to all of you, and may you all have a joyous New Year!!
